New additions and eco friendly initiatives

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news with you all today. Vision Walks Eco Tours has taken delivery of a new tour vehicle, a 12-seater Toyota Commuter. This expands our capacity to bring more people closer to the natural and cultural wonders of Byron Bay and its hinterlands.

Expanding Our Fleet While Awaiting Greener Technologies

While our new Toyota Commuter isn’t a hybrid like our 8-seater Nissan Serena, it does enable us to accommodate an extra four passengers. This allows us to share the enriching, award-winning experiences we offer with even more people. Rest assured, we will continue to use our hybrid Nissan Serena as our primary vehicle for most of our tours.

We’re also eagerly looking forward to the release of a 12-seater hybrid vehicle in the Australian market. Unfortunately, this could still be a year or two away. The slower-than-desired progress in eco-friendly transportation options is a sobering reminder of the price we pay for years of climate change denial. But we’re not sitting idle.

Stepping Up Our Carbon Sequestration Efforts

As part of our ongoing commitment to a more sustainable future, we’ve intensified our efforts to offset our carbon footprint. We’ve teamed up with Bangalow Koalas to plant an additional 120 trees each year. We also intend to pay for some special plantings with the Landcare group who take care of the riparian zone, near where we see our platypuses. These new initiatives will sequester an extra 2860kg of CO2 annually.

Adding this to our own tree-planting efforts, we’re targeting to sequester about 16,000kg of CO2 in the coming year. Even if we increase our CO2 output to 12,000kg, our net carbon footprint would still be a -4000kg.

More Than Just A Tour Company

As many of you know, our passion extends beyond just offering tours. We’re deeply committed to the well-being of Byron Shire, from its unique ecosystems to its vibrant communities. Being on the board of Destination Byron, our founder Wendy Bithell is actively involved in driving a regenerative pathway for our beautiful region.
