Bus and Walk

Go for a guided walk with an environmental scientist through the rainforest to see the amazing Minyon Falls.

Take a step back in time with us to when dinosaurs roamed the earth. The ancient rainforest in the Minyon Valley has a distinct ‘Jurassic Park’ feel. From the forest floor, the striking Minyon Falls appear to fall from the sky 100 metres above you.  All this is on the doorstep of Byron Bay.

Vision Walks offers you the opportunity to share the magic of this place with an environmental scientist as your guide and companion. Join us on a short or long guided walk to explore this breathtaking spectacle. The secrets of the forest open up when you know what to look for.

On the way keep watch for the mystical lyrebird or a pademelon – one of our smallest macropods. Listen for the distinctive call of the yellow-tailed black cockatoo. Catch a glimpse of frogs, skinks, crayfish, tiny birds and lace monitors. These are just some of the wildlife you might see.

As with all our our eco tours, we request that you try and wear dark clothing if possible. We don’t draw attention to ourselves, to the wildlife that we are trying to see.

You’ll journey in style and comfort, either in our cozy eight-seater hybrid vehicle or our spacious 12-seater bus, depending on the group size for the tour.

Experienced walkers, you can do these walks on your own, but why miss out? What we offer takes a great short or long walk to a whole new level as we take you inside the rich natural and human history of this area.

Some tips if you are going it alone

We would love to share the guided experience with you, but if you do go on your own we want you to be safe. Before you set out check your car hire agreement to ensure you can drive on unsealed roads. Currently only the short walk from Minyon Grass to the base of the falls is open, so check your map to make sure you are on the right track. This is not a good walk to do in the rain so check the weather too. Wear sturdy shoes, take plenty of water and make sure you allow enough walking time.

Testimonials

We did this magical walk with Tom. He lead us through the rainforest, describing what we were seeing on the way, and being a keen birder, he pointed out the abundant bird species on the way. I highly recommend this walk. Terri M
