What is the Platy Project?

The Platy Project is an annual event hosted by ACF that brings together passionate individuals from all walks of life to help count and monitor the platypus population in various waterways. These incredible monotremes are one of Australia’s most iconic and elusive species, and they play a crucial role in our ecosystem. By participating in the Platy Project, you’ll contribute directly to the conservation efforts that aim to protect these remarkable creatures and their habitats.

Join Us at Byron Creek, Bangalow!

This year, we’re concentrating our efforts on Byron Creek at Bangalow— a creek that has been under pressure from urban development, agricultural practices and recent flooding events, which also serves as a vital habitat for the platypus. We invite you to be a part of this exciting endeavor as we embark on a journey to study and safeguard these unique creatures.

But if you want concentrate your efforts on the creek near you, that’s OK too.
